Professional Philosophy
My name is Mrs. Sturk. I am a December 2008 graduate of Central Michigan University. I hold an Elementary Teaching Certificate in Michigan, with Language Arts and Integrated Science endorsements.
When I think about my students I want to be the influential drive that makes them all life long learners. It is my goal to teach students that learning does not stop outside of the classroom. They are all individuals with unique learning skills. I want them to embrace their own learning style, and through that obtain the skills to become life long learners.
I also want to make sure that they see themselves as part of a community of learners. It is important that my students understand that they all play a roll in the classroom community as well as the community outside of the classroom.
Why teaching is my passion:
1. Building lasting relationships with student's, staff, and the community.
As an educator, I strive to build rapport and positive relationships with those lives I touch. These relationships bring about an understanding of one another, for our community, and for the importance of quality education.
2. A deep passion for learning.
As an educator, I am a lifelong learner. My thirst for knowledge is never quenched. It is that passion for knowledge and understanding that I instill into my young learners.
3. A commitment and dedication to the teaching profession.
There is a clear commitment to their craft that all outstanding educators make. The dedication to my profession, and need to continually improve upon myself, is why teaching is my passion.
